The works carried out by Manley Construction entailed the restoration and refurbishment works to the existing church including: general repairs and renovations to the existing church building including flooring, roofing and dry rot, replacement of boiler from oil to gas, installation of automatic doors retrofitted onto exiting heavy hinged wooden doors, restoration of the rose window, internal painting and decoration, disabled access to the front of the church, installation of Rockwool insulation to existing roof and draught proofing. All works were undertaken within a live public building.
Works comprised of repairs to defective/loose mortar joints to stonework, removal of defective and loose water-damaged plasterwork, cleaning down of existing walls and finished with paint. All existing seating was removed to facilitate the sanding of the existing herring-bone and cruciform pattern woodblock flooring. Works also included M&E upgrades and installation of new light fittings. A new toilet was constructed and finished in side the entrance lobby and involved connection to existing on-site water supply and drainage.
Works to the roof included the removal of damaged, loose and dislodged slate and supply and fix new selected natural slate to match existing, removal of defective chimney pots, repairs to roof timbers, and installation of Rockwell quilt insulation.
The church has a number of antiques picture, ceiling pictures and holy statues, these artefacts needed to be taken down and stored whilst the works were being carried out and then cleaned and put/fixed back into place.
