This Design and Build Project took place at University of Warwick, Coventry, UK.

Workes involved the opening up the existing roof and connecting into the original structure, new steel frame structure to form a new single storey, 2ndfloor extension. Working within a live education campus.  Works started in September 2014 and was handover in June 2015.

The new structure was built off the floor plate using structural steelwork and a lightweight metal deck roof. The roof and roof-lights were insulated and then weathered with a Sarna membrane. The external walls were then formed in a lightweight external metal framework system and the building clad with translucent Rodeca panelling, a lightweight cladding system which features a gradual colour scheme by using translucent dual-coloured sandwich panels.

The lightweight floor structure consisted of a raised access flooring system over a plywood subfloor which was laid on steel purlins at floor plate level. Internally walls were formed utilising a lightweight metal studding system, acoustic plasterboard and acoustic insulation was installed throughout to achieve acoustic reduction levels ranging from 41dBs within the offices to 55dBs within the seminar & meeting rooms.

Fit-out works included all finishing including suspended ceilings, partitioning, painting, carpet finish to floors, internal joinery, installation of loose and fixed furniture and installation of M&E servicing and comms.
